Is It Safe to Drink Bone Broth Every Day?
For most people, broth can be an everyday food. A few practical details matter more than the frequency.
Instant Cape

A cup of bone broth can fit into an everyday eating routine for most healthy adults. There is no required daily amount, though, and drinking more does not mean you will get more of a promised benefit. Think of it as food you can enjoy, not a dose you have to keep up with.
Start with the ingredients
Broths are not all made the same way. Some contain a lot of added salt. Our beef bone broth and chicken bone broth are made with bones and water, with no added salt. That lets you season a cup or a meal to your own taste. It is still sensible to check the label for the product you are drinking, since “no added salt” is not the same as a guaranteed zero sodium content. The World Health Organization recommends limiting sodium across the whole day, not just in one food.
Keep your meals varied
Broth can add flavour and fluid, but it is not a complete meal. Use it alongside the foods you normally enjoy. Our bone broth collection works well as a starting point for soup with vegetables, beans or meat. You can also sip it on its own when that sounds good.
Store it as carefully as any cooked food
Our broth is sold frozen. Follow the storage directions on the pack, thaw it safely, and refrigerate it once opened. We recommend using an opened portion within three days. General USDA food safety advice says to chill leftovers promptly and use refrigerated leftovers within three to four days. Do not leave a pot of broth sitting out for hours.
When your own health needs change the answer
If you have been given limits on fluid, protein, sodium or other nutrients, check with your clinician or dietitian before making broth a daily habit. People with kidney disease, for example, may need advice tailored to their condition. The National Kidney Foundation explains why those limits vary from person to person.
If you enjoy broth every day, make room for it. If you only reach for it when cooking, that works too. Our article on when to expect results from bone broth explains why consistency is no guarantee of a particular outcome.
