How Long Does It Take to See Results from Drinking Bone Broth?

A week? A month? The honest answer depends on what you mean by results.

People often ask how many days of drinking bone broth it takes to see a difference. It is a reasonable question, especially when online advice makes a daily cup sound like a countdown to clearer skin or better joints. The trouble is that there is no proven timetable for those effects from bone broth.

What you can notice right away

You can tell whether you enjoy the flavour. You can also see whether having broth in the freezer makes lunch or dinner easier. Warm a portion to drink, add it to a soup, or use it in place of water when you cook grains. That is how we tend to use it in our Cape Town kitchen. It is a real reason to keep it around, even if it is quieter than the results promised on social media.

Why the usual timelines do not fit broth

Skin claims often come from trials of collagen supplements with set amounts taken over several weeks. A broth is a different food, and its amino acid content can vary. A study comparing bone broth with collagen supplements found that broth did not provide a consistent equivalent dose. A more recent review of collagen trials also found that the strongest studies did not clearly support claims about skin aging. So a supplement study cannot tell us that bone broth will change your skin after a certain number of weeks.

The same caution applies to claims about digestion and joints. Broth can be part of a meal, but there is no established number of cups or days that guarantees a health result. If you are trying to address a persistent symptom, it is better to speak with a health professional than to wait for a broth routine to fix it.

Give the habit a chance, not a deadline

If you want to try it regularly, start with a way of using it that suits your week. Some people like a cup on a cold morning. Others get more use from adding it to dinner. After a couple of weeks, ask whether it helped you cook or eat the way you wanted. You do not need to drink it every day to make it worthwhile.

Our chicken bone broth has a mild flavour for soups, while beef bone broth brings more depth to stews.
